Shame.

I was only able to "practice," meaning foolishly spend ten squeezed-in precious minutes with Love in this Club before playing a section of Clair de Lune.

Mother wanted me to study Physics. Test next Tuesday. Grade is now a B, not a B-. How sad that I am happy about a B! Non, non!

Last thoughts

Sleepy? Well you can't go to bed yet until you've practiced! Did you practice today?

I hope you enjoy your new Debussy book. I fully expect you to serenade me outside my bedroom window with a comprehensive recital of Debussy's masterpieces one hot July night.

Something sad occurred to me when I was taking a hot shower... our generation will be known for Lil Wayne and Twilight. Why can't we be known for substantial music and literature?

Annie, there is only one way to remedy this. We must become great composers and writers. Starting tomorrow. When we wake up, we shall surely become remarkable people of remarkable talent.

One and a half score and eight years ago...

Senor Buengo was born.

I love Ella Fitzgerald.

I'm sleepy.

Her voice is soothing.

The lyrics are lulling and smile-making.

There's a somebody I'm longing to see...

I don't think I have any more time to practice today... so that means I could only fit in 30 minutes today. This is probably good for me, actually, since my chronic wrist pain is flaring up again and I have some pains on my left pointer finger. I inadvertently cracked it in AP Chem earlier and now I can't write or do much with it without a lot of stinging.

I'll make up for the lack of Chopin in my life with Ella Fitzgerald.

Congratulations on your win, dearest.

You know... it is Mr. Warren's birthday in April. He is too dashing to be turning 38.

Why do I smell like honeysuckle right now?

I got a lovely nice little box from Mary Kay containing four different fragrances and a tube of lip gloss. No idea why, but the package had my name on it.

Won my game! 4-15 the first set, 5-15 the second.
Unfortunately we lost as a team, 7-8. Blasted forfeit!

I think that panorama idea sounds fantastic. But you know, I think, honestly, that a photograph of Lays would actually be quite profound and powerful. It's a Lays. It represents what our American culture has come to. It defines it. It raises many provocative questions about ourselves, our culture, our diet, and human decay.

I don't how some people claim that the cold does not affect their playing. It's not just a psychological block - it's physical! You can't help it! Your stiff fingers lag.

Alas! I have checked both my Yahoo and Gmail. There is no e-mail from you containing lovely potential duets. I am sad. =(

I think most people do get a look of concentration when playing piano. I believe my brows furrow and that I nod my head when playing forceful chords, well, more like leaning with them forcefully. Not sure.

And playing lunch at piano, I mean, piano at lunch, sounds delightful.
But wait, French Club.
But wait, piano.
But wait, French Club.
But wait, playing with you.
But wait, seeing Alan.
But wait, playing piano and listening to you play.

Oh, what a quandary.

But......I think you win. I'll see Alan at the end of lunch. I'll walk you to Warren's!

P.S. - That Craigslist post...muy interesante y comico.

Piano Craigslist Ad & Photo

I found this amusing. I suspect you might also.

I noticed that when I play piano, I contort my mouth oddly. It is very apparent here. Observe.

It's like I tense it up and purse it slightly...

What do you do when you're concentrating hard? My previous piano teacher, Joe, made really odd sounds. It was like SCCHHHHHHHHHH SCHHHHHHH SCSCHSFASFH sounds in rhythm to the piece he was playing.

Another proposal - Leah's off to the music festival tomorrow. What do you say to a lunch time of practice with me tomorrow, eh?

Why do I smell so Asian right now?

Take a guess. To be more specific, I smell like teriyaki.

I've had a brilliant idea for my photo project. The theme is panoramas, but we're allowed to break the conventional rules of art to form something truly unique.

So do you know the evolution of man photos?

I was planning on taking a pano of Alexander in similar poses, except that when he's a fully grown man, there will be some photos where he's holding a gun and then shooting himself in the head.

I don't normally create photos with such narratives, but I'm trying to express that as we evolve, we become more destructive and it'll only lead to our extinction.

What do you think? I think Mr. Cohen will like it. He thinks I'm a brilliant photographer. I could hand in a photo of a potato chip and he'd loudly proclaim my originality and artistic talent! After all, nobody's dared to turn in a photo of a Lays before!

Okay okay, piano.

I got home and I played for a little bit. My fingers felt like Jello. I suspect this is because my house is at a constant negative 2 degrees all the time.

Quickly played through another line of the etude at half tempo, played through the end of Liebestraume.

Then I was hungry.

And that is the reason why I smell very Asian. My mama wasn't home and our fridge is literally empty so I was forced to a last resort: Ramen.

I miss cooking and baking all the time.

Goals for this week:

-First page of the etude
-Completed Liebestraume (I don't care how slow I play it, I just want it done!)
-Decent tempo for the Inventio No. 1
-Finish the second movement of the Mozart
-Start the third.

Practice for 8 hours.

Do NOT even want to think about the Prokofiev right now.

Maybe next week.

Craig so very kindly sent me a huge list of duets. Check your email swift-ish and we'll go through the pieces and decide.

Love,
Me
