Frustrating Day

Well T-Dolor,

Scandalized? I doubt it. I spend disproportionate amounts of time doing Calculus homework versus piano. At least you've completed your SAT I test so it's off your back... I'm studying hardcore for mine still. Starting next weekend, I will take a practice test every week until the May testing date... and then I take my two subject tests in June.

Did you practice today? For how long? What did you practice?

What are you currently working on right now?

I am juggling so many pieces right now that it's difficult to recall...

High commitment:
1. Liebestraume No. 3 by Liszt
2. Sonata in G Major K283 by Mozart
3. Montagues and Capulets by Prokofiev

Low commitment:
1. Inventio No. 15 by Bach
2. Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky
3. Une Larme by Mussorgsky (nothing much to do there... I like it less and less each time I play it)
4. Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky

Must start
-Revolutionary Etude by Chopin (an exercise for my sluggish left hand)
-Invention No. 1 by Bach
-Intermezzo Op. 118 No. 2 by Brahms

Today I played 15 minutes of Hanon, and then throughout the day mostly Liebestraume. I keep sitting down at my piano, only to get up after a few minutes because I'm so frustrated with it. Playing Liebestraume can give me a headache because it goes pretty high in the treble section and my piano sounds very... bright. Piercing. Pain. The action is heavy and the keys are sticking so my cadenzas are pretty much at a standstill... you can only do so much with a half-functional piano.

What will Craig say tomorrow?! I must practice with the utmost diligence before our lesson for tomorrow. I'll finish the second movement of the Mozart sonata, start the third, and blech, look at the first. The third is my favorite while the second one is really pretty but I really dislike the first movement?!

Must call technician in to mellow out the tone, tune it up, and fix sticking keys.

All in all today, I think I got around 1.5 hours of practice. Any progress? No. I'm just frustrated.

Love,
Tor

(P.S. I tried playing Liebestraume with my eyes closed today. Just to see what it'd be like playing the piano blind. Har har har...)
